It is small so it is easy to carry and store, and it also comes with loads of features that allows me carry one device when I travel, like the great sounding speakers,FM radio, the Memo option. It allows for the easy download of music from my computer, being small and portable it is also great for when I go runing. Needless to say, I am, therefore, using my Ipod less and less. My only and a big dissappointment is that the instructions manual is in Frech and other languages, but not in English. It comes with a CD which contains an soft version of the manual in English, but I am on the go, and don't have the time to sort throught files to find information I need, nor do I think that this is should be the only option. So this to me is indeed a major dissappointment.

I dont have a problem with my battery it usually last me a day or two depending on how much web browsing I do. It has also replaced my mp3 player. Its nice to be able to have your phone with you while you excercise instead of both a phone and mp3/ipod! Also I like the fact that I can connect to my home internet since I only pay for the 150mb plan, that way I dont go over my data plan.

(More customer reviews)Alright, let me just say off the bat that as a former Bold 9000 user, I've been looking forward to the new Bold 2 for months since pictures were leaked on the internet. Since I get my phones through my company, I've had the phone since Nov. 18, when it was released on AT&T's network for Premier people. Unfortunately, my friend decided that after playing around with my phone, they wanted one, so I bought them an unlocked one.
The new Bold 9700 is a sleek phone - no doubt about it. RIM apparently has decided, though, to somewhat standardize their phones' look, a direction that bothers me to a great extent. One of the things I loved about the Bold was that it was different - you saw any other phone, and then you saw the Bold - and you thought "Wow, that phone IS bold!!" Size I couldn't care less about - as long as it looked good, and worked awesomely, what else matters? And the Bold 9000 fit those well. So when I got the new 9700, and I compared it to my coworker's Tour (for Verizon), I was quite surprised at how similar they were. It's actually somewhat hard to tell them apart (the 9700 is a bit smaller, and also has the trackpad). Just an observation....
Alright - to the review:
Pros:
Trackpad - this is definitely a most welcome upgrade. RIM outdid themselves on this part - I thought the trackball was good, this trackpad is great! The older Bold's trackball was great, as long as you kept dirt and dust out of it. Which turned out to be somewhat difficult, since there was a depression surrounding the trackball, and so if too much dust or dirt got in, the ball needed to be replaced. Also, if you used it too much, the ball would lose its grip, and become less responsive, also - once again - needing to be replaced. Both those problems are now gone with this new trackpad. For former trackball users, it may take a little use to get to know it, but once you do, trust me - you'll never go back.
Speaker - the speakers on the Bold are nothing less than stunning. My friend has an IPhone, and my speakers for playing music and speakerphone blow his out of this century. Not only can they get very loud, but they also are quite clear and crisp, for the volume you can put them to. And, if that wasn't good enough, RIM includes AudioBoost - for when you hook your Bold up to your car or stereo system, which bumps the output sound even higher. Excellent....
OS - the new BlackBerry 5 OS, which comes preloaded on the phone, is a major improvement over the 4.6 version in most other phones. It's snappier, and quite more responsive.
Camera - RIM upgraded the camera from a 2 MP in the older Bold to a 3.2 MP in the Bold 9700. The pictures that the phone takes are quite good, even in poor light conditions. Of course, if you try to take pictures in the club with it - prepare to be somewhat disappointed. Ha. But for regular, everyday camera uses, that "quick shot", the Bold 9700 actually takes decent pictures. Nice for when you forget to bring that digital camera with you.
There's a couple other pros I can think of, but they're more along the lines of business users, or based on networks (you could get 3G speeds on AT&T's network since the first Bold - T-Mobile just got their first 3G BlackBerry with this phone). If you're interested in them, drop me a comment, and I'll get back to you.
Now, for the cons:
Battery - battery life is still somewhat bad, although it definitely is an improvement over the older Bold. I normally use Pandora - an App that plays Internet Radio, trust me, this should be one of the first apps you download, it's free - the other is Google Maps, also free - anyway, back to the review, so I normally use Pandora, and I can get about 6 hours out of the battery, with small breaks in-between receiving phone calls. So, in normal use, you could probably get about a day out of the battery, which isn't terrible, but also is somewhat worse than comparable phones out there.
Hardware - this is probably my biggest negative I had. Normally, when they say upgrade, you would think they would put better hardware in the thing, right?? Well, think again. With the exception of the upgraded camera and trackpad, there is NO difference in hardware between this and the older Bold.
Zero.
Nada.
I would've liked some upgraded hardware in the phone. But again - this is just my thing. You may not care.
My last negative is more hit and miss - some people have been reporting that BlackBerry Maps - the app that RIM ships with the phone for navigation, doesn't work on the 9700. Myself included. This appears to be at random, but it just irks me. It may be dependent on the network you're on. Fortunately, there's a workaround - get Google Maps. So - overall, the phone is a nice update. It works, takes nice pictures, looks sleek, and can be used as your new boombox when you want to blast "What is Love?" by Haddaway. (Kidding on the last one) I would completely recommend this phone, even with some of its faults, since they don't really take away from the experience with the phone.
I'll update this review from time to time, as I continue to use this, so if there's any questions, please feel free to ask.UPDATE: As of today - 8/3/2010 - RIM has announced that their new BlackBerry OS - 6 - WILL be compatible with the 9700. So if you are looking at this phone, but aren't necessarily a fan of OS 5, or weren't sure if updates would be released for it - fear no more.
UPDATE 2: Today, 1/26/2011 - RIM has still not released the OS 6 for this phone yet, which is just BS. I included a link for those of you who are feeling dangerous and don't mind using beta software, so here you go - [...] Remember - it is a beta, so some things might be different, but I didn't notice any less functionality.

(More customer reviews)I've had the Blackberry Curve 8300 for about a year and a half. It does a lot of things, most of which I haven't had the time to learn. In addition to phone calls, texts, web surfing, and listening to music, I use it for synchronizing MS Outlook's contacts, calendar, memo pad, and tasks between this phone and my desktop PC. Since this phone is for personal use vs. work, I can't synchronize my emails (you need MS Exchange software installed on a server for that). That's one of its downfalls. My old Palm Pilot synchronized emails too.
RIM's software does not synch consistently with MS Outlook. I have to re-configure the synchronization about every 10 times I synch the Curve with Outlook. Once you know how to do it (see instructions below), it only takes a couple of minutes. But it's really annoying. The phone in general is not very intuitive/user-friendly, so I strongly recommend against buying this phone unless you are pretty technically savvy. And don't bother with the phone's help files - they rarely answer your questions.
On the plus side, it is the perfect size and shape for my hands, small purses, and jean pockets. It is also built very well. I have dropped it on hard surfaces from 4 feet high at least five times and it has survived perfectly -- even when I have to put all the pieces back together. RIM's technical support (which is where I got the synch fix instructions below) is pretty good if you have the patience to navigate their phone system to get to the right person. And you get a native English speaker - yay! The sound quality of phone calls on this phone is excellent. Texting is a piece of cake - the keyboard rocks. The web browser works well.
INSTRUCTIONS FOR FIXING MS OUTLOOK AND RIM BLACKBERRY CURVE SYNCH ERRORS:
Close Blackberry desktop mgr.
Unplug phone.
Open Blackberry desktop manager software.
Open Synchronize.
Configuration tab.
Reset configuration.
Plug in phone.
Configure synch (yes, again).

Apenas me llego en el tiempo acordado, lo que hice fue probar mi tarjeta sim de Venezuela (Digitel) y agarro el 3G en 5 segundos, super rapido... Abri el Blackberry Messenger y por supuesto que me agregue a mi mismo y me lo acepto. Esta desbloqueado, es decir, no es solo que puedas utilizar el equipo, sino que ademas levanta 3G y aparece el nombre de la operado en vez de aparecer "Requiere Activacion", que es un fastidio... Todos los accesorios y TODO NUEVO! Solo levantara 3G con Digitel si lo llevas a Venezuela como han escrito otros usuarios... Ya le instale el OS 6 .424 y va de maravilla!

Apparently this blackberry was not the Blackberry I was expecting as I thought I purchased one with "3MP Camera" and...the one I got does NOT have a CAMERA! I am not a happy person right now,I email OEM shop hoping this was an error...I hope it is I will gladly return the phone back to their facility (standard shipping at that) in hopes they send me the correct phone with an ACTUAL 3MP CAMERA as advertised. If they feel they sent me the correct one well sadly I will need to tell them I want my refund and will take the appropriate protocol to return the item and get credited for this. I will keep you all informed on how OEM handles this.

Name 3 phones that cost less than $200 that actually comes with a 5m.p. camera and with GPS. Besides it has a very hot design. At least this is my opinion.
It looks great, it feels solid not as usually cheap phones feel like, the touch captative system is very smooth and works quite well (similar to the Nokia N8), the pictures looks great to be honest. Imagine all those features for only 200 bucks. It's totally worthy.
Name 3 phones with better features that actually cost less than 200 bucks? Let's make this a challenge :)

(More customer reviews)I gave it a four because when I first got it, it took me time to see and get used to the keys because they are kind-of small. If you want bigger buttons get 8330, my sister has one, wish I could switch with hers, but mine is newer and no tracking ball, which I really like to.. about this phone. Its sleek and easy to navigate..Before I had this one I had the 8120, ah--big difference the charge on 8520 last longer and takes a little time to charge up, but its worth it. Also, the keys I wished lighted up a bit brighter, BUT like I said once you have it after a few days you get used to it. My one problem with as I am thinking off the top of my head ..is there are not enough apps to go with or themes made for this model.
I am a geek for that, but as of now I have been able to download a few off my blackberry 8120 to my 8520.
Also, checking around i was able to get a few more themes, that are just awesome. The 2gb memory card that comes with it I took out and put in my 4gb from my 8120 in it. I read somewhere it can go to 16gb and pretty soon it will go 34gb...its in the works now.
I will say the quality in web browsing is GREAT and I have had no problems with dropped calls, lost signal, or getting frustrated with where are the keys for texting; all the numbers are on the left side..feels weird but after a day or so, it works better than my other blkberry which was the 8120.
Also there's a dictionary to while your texting, a firewall..it is just way better than I expected. If I go all over, I apologize, I am giving you want I can tell you about this product as I'm writing I'm having a flashback...lol.
Now if your a geek like me with apps, there aren't that many games for this Rim..I am waiting for new apps to become more available for my phone for some reason, 8320 has the most..kind-of peeves me at times, wen I am looking around as to adding to my phone but..this phone is pretty easy compared to my 8120. If you want to know anything else, ask..I will answer.

(More customer reviews)3G does not work on AT&T! I received a T-Mobile branded phone that only supports 2G (EDGE) on the AT&T network. When I asked to replace the phone for one that supports 3G on AT&T, I was told that I should have known in advance whether or not the phone would work on 3G before I bought it, and since I had opened the box to test it, I would not be allowed to return it for a replacement or refund! The description of the phone states that the supported HSPDA (3G) networks are 850, 1900, and 2100 (AT&T uses 1900, T-Mobile 2100), so a reasonable inference would be that 3G will work with AT&T, but it doesn't. It doesn't because when either AT&T or T-Mobile brand their phones, they disable 3G capability if the phone is used with the other carrier. The sellers of unlocked 3G phones should be required to disclose who's branded phone they are selling, so that the customer can make an informed choice. Because they aren't required to do so and don't, I was sold a product that does not perform as advertised. Buyer beware!

The scrolling pad (not sure on the specific name, but it's not a roller ball!) is SO much better than the ball - it doesn't get stuck like the ball did, and it's easy to touch and scroll up, down, side to side, etc..
The keys are pretty easy to use to type - I guess if you were to have bigger fingers it might be a little bit harder, but I have had no issues with it really.
The phone is very resistant to damages, as I've dropped mine a million times and it still barely has any scratches or 'blemishes' :) The screen has even held up really well and there are no marks or scratches on it either, which is amazing, coming from a mom of two who always gets her phone taken away and thrown, tossed, dropped, chewed on, etc., by her kiddos. haha
Overall, a great phone so far, and I've had mine about a year now, if not more. I'm happy with it, as my main concern with my last blackberry, was with the rollerball, and because this one doesn't have that, I've had no big issues with it. It's got Blackberry Instant Messenger which I could not live without!!

I have been a Nokia fan for more than 9 years now, all Nokia phones(and 1 Samsung to be honest!). i was looking 4 another Nokia since i lost mine on a plane last month, then i saw this one & it was love from first sight! Stylish, cute, but don't let it fool u!This phone is far more capable than you think, I could easily compare it to any HTC or iphone!i tried the iphone not the HTC though..
1st the screen is gr8, the touch is soo smooth, difficult if you have big hands though, if you dont buy, you won't be able to enjoy this phone. the full keybord is really good, the Android market..what can i say...endless fun & applications...the camera has really good photos, the phone is sooo handy...though i gave it 5 stars coz i got it for less than this price from a friend..but for its real price ( $250 ) i would give it 4 stars..still good *edit* the screen after a couple of month is rather smaller than it should!unless u like small stuff, when u compare this screen to an htc aria(3.2" instead of the 2.6' on this phone) the difference is HUGE !
Nothing is perfect of course, the cons:
- the battery lasts for only a day, a full complete day if you install application killer from the market also when u use the battery power app, it was installed on my phone as well, it lets u control the bluetooth, wifi, background data and LCD light all in 1 touch which is so convenient.
- the 2nd problem was the bluetooth, u can't receive and send files through bluetooth except if you install the bluetooth app from the market, which isn't gr8 as well *edit* upgrade to 2.1 version solved this problem ( but i wouldn't recommend this upgrade over all, it slowed the phone down a bit)
These were the only problems i found till now ( after almost 2 weeks)..i hate those bulky new phones they are releasing everywhere, so this just so conveneient 4 me
bottom line, if you are ok (better,if u like them!)with small phones, and want one capable of doing ALL the smartphones do, then buy this one..but if you have a problem dealing with small LCD or charging the phone almost everyday (which i was used to do the past 3 years withh all my Nokia phones, the N80, N85 & N97 mini!) then it is gonna be hard 4 u to get used to it!
*edit* The plastic-look of this phone( even though some might like it) takes down its rating, even for the price! when u take the back cover off, u see a slim phone that would have looked gr8 with a metal back or something, also could have been much slimmer, instead Sony Ericsson added a curved plastic back that adds real bulk to the phone for no reason! this takes the rating even to less than the 4 stars given!

(More customer reviews)After looking at phones for almost two months, i picked up this phone for the following reasons:
- It is a voice-first phone, so there are no manditory data plans or add-ons
- It is the smartest non "smart" phone that you can get. it has fast nice 3g internet with functional browser, but you don't have to buy a smartphone internet plan to use it. I pay 10 bucks a month for unlimited internet that gets me any full html website just great.
- the slideout keyboard doesn't make the phone too fat and is perfect for writing emails. (emails are included in the text plan with this phone, you don't have to subscribe separately like with smart phones.
- good call clarity, though you do need to have the volume just right.
- expandable memory and great quality camera to fill it up.
the cons:
- as with all samsung phones, you can't change the menu buttons for quick access.
I would recommend this phone if you are looking for something inexpensive that can do most simple browsing and emailing functions as well as a smart phone but want something slim and easy.
